# Check a token

## When to use

Use this before treating a ticker as a token. If isOfficial is false, or warnings is not empty, do not send. Match the address, not the ticker.

## Request

GET https://keespecs.grok.me/api/token/check?symbol={symbol} or ?token={token}. 0.01 USDC. Free while payments are down (rate-limited). Pass one of them, not both. A missing payment returns 402. A bad query returns 400 and is not charged.

## Fields

- official is the currency-map or constants address for that code, or null when no official token uses it.
- candidates lists each token with that code or the address you asked for. isOfficial true means that address is the official one. impostorOf names the official code this row copies.
- warnings may include same_code_as_official, not_in_currency_map, zero_supply, no_metadata, decimals_mismatch_with_official, and admin_can_mint. An empty list is not an audit.
- supplyBase is the ledger integer. supply is that integer scaled by decimals. headHeight is the account height. sends24h is the count from the movers page, or null. That page can be shorter than 24 hours.
- coverage is partial. Tokens no source has seen are absent. This is not a quote and not a forecast.
